I realize my Kazakhstan readership is somewhat limited, but I wanted to point out a great resource here in Astana, the English Language Center. In accordance with the government program to encourage all citizens to learn English (as well as Russian and Kazakh), the government of the city of Astana has created the ELC which provides cheap English lessons to anyone. Lessons are 200 tenge an academic hour (45 minutes) for school children and 600 tenge for adults. The Center is located in Lycee #35, on Abai Street near the corner of Sara-Araka, but classes are held in many schools throughout the city. It's a great chance to learn English with professional teachers--no strings attached.
